Our client, an established organization in the manufacturing and transportation sector, is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join their team. This role involves working on AWS infrastructure, network architecture, and security, supporting migration and maintaining critical cloud systems.

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure for production, staging, and development environments 
• Contribute to network architecture including VPCs, subnets, security groups, VPNs, and DNS
• Implement and uphold security best practices such as IAM policies, encryption, secrets management, and access controls
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and infrastructure-as-code
• Support migration of workloads from legacy datacenter to cloud infrastructure
• Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot cloud environments for performance, cost, and reliability
• Develop disaster recovery, backup strategies, and incident response procedures
• Manage containerized workloads using Docker, ECS/Fargate, and container registries
• Serve as the US-based point of contact for infrastructure issues, collaborating with UK-based engineers
• Improve infrastructure documentation, stability, and supportability
• Document architecture decisions, operational procedures, and runbooks
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, data scientists, and product managers
• Write clean, tested, and well-documented code; participate in code reviews and planning
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing

• Extensive experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront, Route 53, ECS, CloudWatch, GuardDuty, Config, Security Hub)
• Strong networking knowledge including TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, load balancing, firewalls
• Deep security knowledge including IAM, encryption, compliance frameworks, vulnerability management
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform
• Proficiency with CI/CD tooling and automation scripting (Python, Bash)
• Knowledge of containerization platforms (Docker, ECS/Fargate)
• Ability to work independently and in cross-location teams
• Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration and documentation
• Familiarity with version control systems and agile development practices
• Problem-solving skills and quick learning aptitude
• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Professional, Security Specialty, or Advanced Networking) are a plus
• Experience with Kubernetes/EKS, cloud migration projects, and observability tools is desirable
• Knowledge of compliance standards relevant to transportation or rail industries is a plus
